- Individuals needing a Class CB licence because the crane is operated from a permanent cabin or has more than three powered motions.
- Employers and site supervisors who require certified crane operators to ensure safety and compliance on-site.
Course Duration & Format
The course typically spans 5 full days, combining both theory and practical assessments.
Training delivery may include face-to-face sessions, practical crane operation exercises, and assessment of competency against national standards.
What You Will Learn
- Pre-operational inspections of crane and lifting equipment — ensuring safety and compliance.
- Safe load handling and transfer techniques, including load estimation, use of slings/lifting devices, and load stability checks.
- Operational controls and crane manoeuvres: traversing, hoisting, traversing across bridge/gantry, and precise movements.
- Hazard identification, risk assessment and implementation of safe work practices before, during and after crane operations.
- Shutdown, post-operation checks, secure storage/shutdown procedures, and communication methods (signals, coordination) on site.
Certification & Licence Process
After successful completion of both theory and practical assessments, participants receive a Statement of Attainment for unit TLILIC0016.
This qualifies you to apply for the national High-Risk Work Licence (Class CB) via your jurisdiction’s WHS authority (e.g. SafeWork, WorkSafe).
