Prerequisite: CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card)
Course Overview
This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to work with products and materials containing crystalline silica (CS) and respirable crystalline silica (RCS).
The unit includes preparing for and identifying tools and equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protective equipment (RPE) to be used while working with products and materials containing CS. The unit also covers the review of working with products and materials containing CS. Worksites may be in factory or workshop settings or commercial and residential settings, and/or construction sites, including demolition sites.
This silica awareness course is Nationally Accredited and has been identified as an approved training course by SafeWork NSW, QLD, and SA. While the state of Victoria has not mandated a specific course, health and safety regulations do stated that employers must provide information, instruction and training to their workers regarding exposure to silica.
Practical Demonstration:
As a part of the requirements for Nationally Accredited Unit, there will be 5 practical assignments within your course. Please be advised that you must record yourself performing the task based on the scenario and return the video file to us to be assessed.
Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Health Security & Education Pty Ltd as trustee for Health Security & Education Unit Trust (RTO 40907).
